I started making this card a while ago and then though I could use it for Kerry's challenge last week but got busy and never got it finished. When I saw Kerry's challenge for this week I was happy that this card also fit. So my no layer card turned into a layered card for this challenge. (I'm not a big fan of no layers).
I deal with people everyday from all around the US and it always surprises me when someone from the middle of the country will say "I have never been to a beach" or "I have only seen the beach when I go on vacation". Growing up in New England the beach has just been there any time I wanted to visit it. I forget that everyone doesn't have a coast with water. So I thought a beach card was fitting for the area I grew up (and still live) in.
When I was buying my High Hopes stamps a few months ago I wanted to buy something outside of my norm. This Moose was it. Isn't he cute? Once I got it then I had to figure out what to do with it. This is what I came up with. I stamped the Moose and then masked him. My cloud template came with directions for a beach scene like this. I thought that this would be a great stamp to try it with. I then put stickles on the water to make it stand out and sand on the sand. I had bought a small bag of really fine sand at one of the conventions a couple years ago when I was in my scene making phase of card making. Mary and I share a set of stamps from Seaside and I used the grass from that to add to the beach. I thought the card still needed some color so I made the beach ball. The floaties, flippers and beachball all have crystal effects on them to make them look like plastic.
I really wanted to use a saying from a SU set I have that says Dare to Be Fabulous with this card but it was too big so I went with Wish you were here.
Thanks for visiting. I hope you like my card.
