Happy Birthday Nicole

Happy Wednesday! Summer has hit New England. It is hot and humid here. I don't mind the heat but the humidity is awful. I hope it is short lived. I am so happy I have central AC. My vacation is over and I am very busy at work so I'm not leaving the house much anyway.

My Nieces birthday is this week and this is the card I made for her. She loves pearls so I wanted to make sure they were on the card. I wanted to do something different so I made this tri-fold card. The only problem is that it doesn't stand up well. The card IRL looks much better than this picture. I had an awful time trying to get a good shot of it. I needed to give it to her so I didn't have alot of time to play around with taking pictures. The beige paper was run through my cuttlebug with one of my embossing folders. I used both sides of my DP for the pattern and the rose color on the card. The good thing is that she liked it.

I hope to have a couple more cards to post soon. I thought that I would get alot done on my vaca but it didn't work out that way. I have 2 cards partly done so hopefully I will get them finished this week and post them.

I hope everyone has a great week. Try and stay cool.

Peggy

Strawberries Anyone?

Good Afternoon everyone. I hope everyone is having a good week. I got back late Monday afternoon from a few days in Maine. My sister and I go every year. We hit the outlets for shopping, spent some time walking on the beach and then went to a beautiful Spa on the cliffs overlooking the ocean for facials. Yesterday I just didn't do anything! That's the great thing about vacations. You can do nothing if you want to. Today I have been busy. My AC was making funny noises so I called a repair person to look at it. I have to have the motor rebuilt or buy a new boiler and AC unit. I'm going with the rebuild. I worked on my nieces BD card, my brothers BD card (neither of them done yet) and don't laugh but I am designing my XMAS card. I like to do it during one of my vacations so I know what I want to do and I can work on them as I get time. If I waited I would never get them done.

I bought this stamp at one of my LSS a while ago. This is my first Cornish Heritage Farms set. I really like the animal series. I see so many cute cards made with them. It was alot of fun to color. I had tried coloring it when I first bought it but when I used the red copics I had they were too dark and the strawberries just didn't look right not matter what I did. I had a 25% coupon at my LSS and saw that they had some different reds so I bought them. I was so happy to see that they worked much better on this card. I used stickles on the flowers and I touched the edges of the strawberries with shimmerz.

I hope everyone is having a relaxing week like I am.

Thank you for visiting. I hope you like my card.

This week has flown by. I am extremely busy at work and I am getting ready to go on vacation next week (one of the reasons I am extremely busy at work). I can't wait!!

This stamp is from High Hopes. I love their last release with the Ants. They are so cute. I am so happy I like this card because it was a little frustrating to make. I had the image colored. Loved how it came out and then when I went to stamp the grass I got a streak of green ink from the block across my image. I was so disappointed. I decided I would color another one. I wasn't as happy with how the leaves came out so, I checked my original image. The streak of green missed the leaves so I cut them out and popped them up on this image. As you can see I really wanted this grass so I did give it another try, this time being more careful. As usual, I used my cloud template. I liked the DP but didn't know if I could find anything to match it. Cranberry Crisp is a color I do not use often and was happy that it went perfectly.

I feel like the colors makes this a Fall type card which I hope for everyone in the Northeast makes them feel cooler. The hot weather has finally arrived here and my body is not use to it yet.

I hope everyone has a great weekend. Let me know what you think of my Ant..

Willy the Worm

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a nice weekend. Mine was quiet, which is exactly how I wanted it. I had a bunch of things to do around the house and I got 3 cards made!! I have not had a weekend where I could devote a few hours to stamping in a while and it was fun.

One of the things I did was to get some great free digi stamps from Victoria Case Designs. You really need to check her stamps out. She has some really cute images to buy. Isn't this one cute? He is called Willy the Worm. I decided that I had so much fun coloring him that I would join her sketch challenge.

After I had colored him, I sponged the background. I decided I didn't like that so I cut him out and popped him up on the card. I like it much better this way so I guess my bad decision turned into a good thing. The only deviation I did from the sketch was to layer him on an oval rather than a square. It just seemed to look better this way. I added some shimmerz to the leaves and flowers to give it a little pop.

I hope you like my card. Thanks for visiting.

Get Well Soon

I hope everyone is having a great day. It is absolutely beautiful here in the Northeast after another week of rain.

This is my first attempt with digi stamps. I downloaded this a while ago from Dustin Pike's website. He makes some really cute stamps and I love his free downloads on Wednesday's. It gives me a chance to play with digi stamps. I like the way you can re-size them. It's going to take me some more playing to figure out sizes without having to print them out. I can see me buying some though. Especially those images where you may not use it alot so you don't want to buy the rubber but for the price, digi is the way to go.

I used one of my Tonic punches on the bottom. It's hard to see but it is a leaf punch. I didn't know what to use for the Bear's stuffing so I put glitter.

I'll need to spend some time on the all the digi stamp websites. I bet there are some great images out there just waiting to be colored!!

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you all have a great weekend.

3CTC20

Time flies, doesn't it? The 4th of July came up so quickly I never made a card for it. Kerry's challenge is red, white and blue which, of course, made me think of the 4th.

I don't have time to make a new red, white and blue card before Thursday but still wanted to participate. I made this card for a friend of mine that just bought a new house. They were not sure they could pull it off without selling their house which they can't do right now. They were thrilled when it happened because they are downsizing. They will rent it until they can sell their house. First step towards retirement...She isn't a pastel person so I made the card Red, white and blue. I know I'm cheating with the pink in it for the challenge but since it's mostly red, white and blue I figured it still counted.

I colored the side red to make it look like she was painting. I put crystal effects everywhere there was paint. I was stuck on what to do with the floor. I like the beige (I know, another not red, white or blue) because now it is so hard for me not to put something on the bottom of my cards. Remember when everything we did was suspended in air? I'm also having a hard time on the backgrounds now that I am use to seeing clouds. I outlined the girl and the white rectangle in blue to take away some of the white.

I hope everyone has a great week. Thanks for stopping by. I hope you like my card.

True Love

Good Morning! How is everyone's weekend going? So far mine is great. We saw the Sun yesterday!! The last 3 weeks have been nothing but clouds and rain. It was so nice to have a sunny day!!

This is a weekend of traditions for me. Today my sister, niece and I are going to Rockport, MA. My sister and I have been doing it for years. My niece started joining us a couple of years ago. Rockport is a little seaside artist town. There are little shops all along the main street. We spend the day going into all the shops (and yes, spending money) and end the day at a little restaurant for a fried clam dinner.

Tomorrow I am getting together with 2 friends who I have know for 30 years. We get together around this time every year and spend the day drinking champagne and eating a lobster dinner. If you can't tell by now, I love shellfish. I made this card for one of these friends. The 3 of us are single and have never been married. One of my friends, Pauline, met a man about a year ago and they just got engaged. I am so happy for her.

This is a Motivet stamp I bought at the convention I went to a few weeks ago. These are the cutest stamps. I posted earlier about their blog candy. Today is the last day to try and win. You should check them out. Their new releases are absolutely fabulous.

I hope everyone has a fun and safe 4th. Thanks for stopping by.

More Graduations

This is the Graduation card I made for my Niece. She usually doesn't even acknowledge my cards but she did on this because it had her name on it. Teenagers....you never know what is going make them react.

I love my Just Rite stamps just for this reason. You can personalize your cards. I like doing that for certain occasions especially when doing simple cards.

The hat is from a cheap set I picked up at Jo-Ann's. I didn't want to spend alot of money on graduation stamps because I just don't use them alot.

Thanks for stopping by.
